A few honest answers

About the practice

Who I am, and how I work

The kind who sits down and listens. I built this so I would have the time to hear what brought you in, examine you with care, and build a plan that makes sense to you. You leave cared for, and I leave knowing I was the best physician I could be for you that day.

Yes, and you get the same me for both. One physician for all of your skin. The doctor who checks you for skin cancer is the same one who plans and does your cosmetic work, so nothing gets handed off and nothing falls through the cracks.

Yes. I am a board-certified dermatologist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, with twenty years in practice. I did my internship at Northwestern and trained at the University of Illinois, where I was chief resident during my dermatology residency.

Because I wanted the time to practice medicine the way it should work. A physician who knows you, who listens and examines properly, and who builds a plan with you that you understand before you leave.

I am not here to make you look younger, and I will not sell you fear about getting older. I want your skin healthy and looking like you, not done. When a treatment moves you toward that, we will talk it through and build it into your plan.

You might not need to, and I would never tell you to leave a doctor who serves you well. What I offer is one doctor for all of it, medical and cosmetic, who knows you and your history. Your records stay in one place, with the same doctor, so you are not starting over at every visit. Come once and see how it feels.

I understand, and that history is why a lot of my patients come to me in the first place. I will not just tell you I am different and leave it there. The difference is the setup, a full hour at the first visit, a physician who examines you properly and listens first, and the same doctor every time so nothing resets. Come once and measure it against what you have had. That is the fairest test I can offer.

You can find plenty online, and a lot of my patients arrive having read all of it, which is part of why they come. The internet gives you information. It cannot look at your skin, weigh it against your history, and tell you what applies to you. That judgment is what you are paying for, and it is the part that keeps you from guessing.

You come in for what you came in for. Plenty of patients only ever see me for medical care, and plenty come for cosmetic and nothing else. Because I see all of your skin, if I notice something worth raising while you are here, I will, and then it is entirely your call.

In Maryland, in the Greater Washington area. I am securing the space now, and I will share the exact location once it is set. By appointment is on purpose, the way I protect the time every visit deserves.

The visit

What it is like to be seen

Rushed is rarely about the clock. What people usually mean is that no one listened, or looked, or took them seriously. So the visit opens with you. I ask what brought you in and I listen before I reach for anything, you are examined with care, and we build the plan together. That is what the time is for, and it is why people leave feeling cared for, like someone finally paid attention.

We sit down, and I ask what brought you in and what you are hoping for, and I listen before I do anything else. A full hour. I do a careful head-to-toe exam, then we go through the plan together so there is no confusion when you get home. Before you leave I will ask what else is on your mind, because there is usually something.

Come once. The first visit stands on its own, a full hour, a real exam, and a plan you can take and use anywhere. If you want to keep working together after that, I would be glad to, and there is no commitment beyond the visit in front of you.

That is exactly who this is built for. Seeing one physician for everything means one relationship instead of three fragmented ones, and the hour up front means we get it right the first time instead of a string of quick visits that never add up. Once you are established, a quick question can often be handled by message instead of another trip in. Less of your time, spent better.

No. The first visit is the care itself. You spend the hour with me, get a real exam, and leave with a plan, whether or not you come back.

Very. I review each case before you come in, and completing your forms in advance means we spend the hour focused on you, not on paperwork. It is not required, but it is strongly recommended.

A list of your current medications, your medical history, the skincare products you use, any prior records that feel relevant, and your questions. You do not need to prepare anything elaborate. That is what the hour is for.

A supportive adult is always welcome to sit in with you, if it helps you feel at ease or remember what we talked through. For little ones, I would ask you to arrange care if you can. Your visit is your time to be fully present, and a clinical room is not built for a child. That one is for their sake as much as yours.

Ongoing care

The relationship after the first visit

You will see me. For the visit and the procedure, every time.

Fewer than you would think. I am building this for a few hundred people, not the thousands most schedules carry, because I want the time to sit with you the first time, and to know your skin well enough that when something changes a few years from now, I will catch it. When you come back, I am the one who picks up the thread. Not a chart, not a stranger. Me.

I know how a number like that can sound, like a way to make you hurry up and decide. It is not. I keep it small so the relationship stays real, and so no one I take on is sharing me with a waiting room full of people.

It depends on what you need. A skin cancer check is typically once or twice a year. Cosmetic treatments like smoothing lines of expression run on a three to four month cadence. Chronic conditions have their own rhythm. We will build your cadence into the plan together.

Yes. I build a regimen around what your skin needs, not a trend, and I keep it simple enough that you will keep it up. The products I carry, you can get through my website, and for anything I do not stock, I will point you to exactly what to buy and where. Fewer things, chosen well.

They are welcome, each as a patient of their own, with their own visit and the time it needs, so no one is splitting your time or getting half of mine. Plenty of patients start for themselves and bring the people they love in once they see how it works.

My practice is for adults, eighteen and older. For the little ones, a pediatric dermatologist is the right home for their care, and I am glad to point you in a good direction.

Paying for your visit

What it costs, and what it buys

The first visit is a full hour where I listen, examine you with care, and we build your plan together. The visit is $950, paid when you book. It also carries a $250 credit toward cosmetic treatment if you choose it within sixty days, there if you want it.

The first visit is $950, and you deserve to know exactly what that buys. A full hour with me, a careful and unhurried head-to-toe exam, time to talk through everything that brought you in, and a plan we build together that you keep and can use anywhere. The $250 cosmetic credit rides inside it too. Simple procedures I can do in the room that day are part of the visit, and if a spot needs a biopsy sent to the lab, that may be a separate charge, which I will always talk through with you first. What you are paying for goes past the hour itself. It is one physician who takes all of your skin, and you, seriously.

An established visit is for when you already know me and something comes up, a flare, a change you want looked at, or a condition we are following together. It is time with me to sort it out properly, not a quick glance. The visit is $475, paid when you book.

A full head-to-toe skin check is $550, paid when you book. It is for established patients due for a full exam. If you are new and worried about a specific spot, you book the New Patient Visit, where a full-body exam happens within the hour.

Simple procedures I can handle in the room are part of your visit, not an add-on. A biopsy is a little different, because the sample goes to a lab to be read. If one is needed, there is a separate professional fee of $425, and the outside lab bills your insurance directly for their part. Either way, I will always talk it through with you before anything is done, so nothing is a surprise.

What you are paying for is time, one physician for everything, and a relationship that follows you for years, and private pay is what protects that. So the office is out of network with every plan and bills no insurer. If you have commercial insurance, I am glad to give you a superbill, an itemized receipt for the medical part of your visit, that you can send to your plan yourself, and what they reimburse is their call.

No. This is for anyone who wants a doctor who knows them and their skin. I keep the practice small and private on purpose, and that choice has a cost I am honest about. What you are paying for is attention and continuity.

No sales, no specials, no haggling. The price is the same for everyone. The one thing that looks like a deal, the $250 cosmetic credit inside your first visit, is built into every new patient visit, not something I run now and then.

That is exactly the visit to come in for. We get to the bottom of it, so the one small thing is handled right and does not grow into a bigger thing later. And because I look at all of your skin, anything else worth attention gets noticed while you are here.

You see the fee before you confirm a booking, so there is no surprise at the desk and no bill chasing you months later. For cosmetic care, we go through the full cost together up front.

Many patients use an HSA or FSA for the medical part of their care. Cosmetic treatment usually is not eligible. Your plan administrator can tell you what your account covers, and I will give you an itemized receipt to make it simple.

I have opted out of Medicare. If you are a Medicare patient, we can still work together under a private contract that we sign before your first visit, and I will walk you through it beforehand.

Life happens, and if you need to move or cancel, just give us at least 48 hours and your visit moves with you. Inside 48 hours, a portion of the fee is held, because that time was set aside for you. The full details are in the policy you will see when you book.

Cosmetic care

Looking like yourself, not done

Smoothing and relaxing lines of expression, volume and contouring, collagen restoration, chemical peels, and skin treatments. Laser and energy work as well, once the devices are in place. I do not post a procedure menu, because we talk through what makes sense for you and build a plan together.

Cosmetic treatment is priced by the plan, not by the syringe, because the plan is built around what your skin calls for. The booking minimum is $500 for a 30-minute visit and $1,000 for a 60-minute visit, applied toward your treatment. The full cost depends on what we build together, and you will always know it before we begin.

A physician does all of it here, from reading your skin to the treatment itself. I am a board-certified dermatologist with twenty years in medicine, so cosmetic work sits inside medical care, from the same physician who checks you for skin cancer and treats disease. That means the person planning your treatment can tell what belongs on your skin and what does not, and everything is built around what your skin needs.

Not at all, and it is a fair question, one I hear from men and women both. Wanting to look like yourself, rested and well, is not vanity, it is part of taking care of your health. Here it sits inside medical care, from a physician, in private, and with no judgment about what brought you in. You decide what you want, and you get an honest read from me on it.

No. What I am after is you looking like yourself, not done. I treat with a careful hand and to a natural result, and if something would not suit you, we find what does.

Because the plan is built around you and what your skin needs, and I tell you the truth. When a treatment is right for you, you will have it. Honesty is the center of how I practice, and it is the thing you will feel first.

No honest physician can promise a specific result, and I will not pretend otherwise. What I promise is that I will tell you what is realistic before we begin, treat with a careful hand, and build in a refinement visit to see how your skin settled and adjust. You will know what to expect going in.

It is a follow-up visit built into every cosmetic treatment, set on the calendar the day we treat. We look at how your skin responded, refine it if it needs it, and plan what comes next. It is part of the treatment, not an afterthought.

Tell me, and bring it straight to me rather than sitting with it. The 2-Week Refinement is built into every cosmetic treatment for exactly this, time to see how your skin settled and adjust. If something is not sitting right, we look at it together and decide the next step.

Any photos I take are for your medical record and to follow your own progress. Nothing is shared, posted, or used anywhere without your written permission. Your face and your privacy are yours.

Cosmetic treatment is not covered by insurance, and no superbill applies to cosmetic visits.

Medical and skin health

The medical side of your skin

The full range of medical skin, things like acne, rosacea, eczema and rashes, psoriasis, hair and nail concerns, and spots, moles, and skin cancer checks and treatment. Alongside cosmetic care and the long-term health of your skin. If you are not sure whether something is mine to handle, just ask, and I will point you the right way.

Yes. I care for skin of every tone and type, and I treat with that in mind, from how I read your skin to what I recommend. You are looked at as the person you are, not a type.

Yes. Come for a second opinion or a single consultation, and you get the full hour, an honest read, and a plan, whether or not you go further with me. Sometimes the most useful thing I can give you is a clear picture.

I am not able to weigh in on a specific spot over a website or a message, and I would not want to guess at something that matters. If a spot is changing, bleeding, or worrying you, please do not wait on us, see a doctor right away. Something like that is worth getting looked at promptly.

No, and you will not get a lecture. Life gets full, and skin waits until it does not. We start from where you are, not from where you think you should have been, and we go forward from there. However long it has been, bring it all in.

Quickly, and that is part of why I keep the practice small. As my patient, you are not one of thousands waiting for a slot, so when something changes, there is room to get you in and look properly. If a finding needs attention, it gets it the same day. And if you are not my patient yet and a spot is changing or bleeding now, please do not wait on a waitlist, see a doctor promptly.

Then I get you to the right person, and I do not disappear while you go. I handle the full range of medical skin and a great deal of cosmetic work, and no single physician does everything, so I would rather send you to the right hands than stretch past mine. I point you to exactly who to see and stay in the loop, so your care does not get lost in the handoff.

Prescriptions, records, and privacy

The practical things, handled

If I prescribe something, I send it straight to your pharmacy. For refills, reach out and we take care of it, and for anything that needs a fresh look, we will get you in. I would rather keep an eye on what you are using than refill on autopilot.

Of course, they are your records. Ask us and we will get you a copy or send them where you need them.

Completely, and your privacy is part of the care here, not an extra. By appointment means you are not sitting in a crowded waiting room, and what we talk about stays between us. Your records are kept confidential and protected under HIPAA, and nothing about your care is shared without your permission.

Between visits, results, and emergencies

How to reach me, and when

Not a phone tree, and not a stranger reading a script. The practice runs on messaging, so you reach us with a note instead of hold music, and your clinical questions come to me.

Send us a message. For non-urgent questions you will hear back within two business days. If something feels like it cannot wait, a message is not the place for it, so call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

You reach me. Every cosmetic treatment includes a refinement visit two weeks out, and you do not have to wait for it if something worries you sooner. Send a message and we look at it, and if it needs attention that day, it gets it. If you are ever having a true emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Our office reaches out to you directly and promptly with your results. If something needs attention, you will hear about it clearly, and anything urgent is handled the same day.

If you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Messaging is not for emergencies and is not monitored around the clock. For anything that is not urgent, send a message and we will get back to you.

We build your care around your life. You can reach us by message between visits, and for anything that needs an exam or a procedure, we plan it for when you are here. Being away does not put your care on pause.
